Just the way it is

I have a list a mile long. I shouldn't be on here doing this. But I CANNOT go another day without at least saying "Hello" to the online world. Maybe next week I will have time for an update.

He says "Hello" too.

Valentine's Day 2009

We made it a day of just 'us'. It was fantastic. We rented a movie and made one of Kevin's favorite treats!

For clarification of what they rice krispies are (you can figure out which is which) big heart, little heart, A, K, J, cupids arrow, spider, and Kevin's face.

Such a little thing

I don't know if I mentioned on here, but Jack has his first tooth! Yes, it's very cute. And yes, it's on my top ten list of things I am scared of. You read correctly, scared of. Let's just put it this way - I am still nursing. Ouch. It is such a little thing to be scared of I know...but seriously I am on pins and needles as I nurse him now. This isn't just because of what I think might happen, it's because of what has happened. Double ouch. Like just 2 minutes ago I was nursing him for his nap when all of the sudden "OWWWWWWWWWWWW!" I actually might have yelled. Jack was startled and started to cry, but don't worry he was quickly consoled. One day I might be able to snap a picture of the culprit for you all.

Not Enough

My main form of liquid intake is H2O. Occasionally I will have a sip of Kevin's juice and if we get fast food (which is rare) I will probably order a soda. But really it's good ole water for me. I thought I was drinking enough, then I realized at night I was probably more thirsty then I should be; and when I wake up to nurse Jack at night I think I am going to pass out if I don't drink a big glass right away. So today I finally looked up how much I should be getting. According to the Mayo Clinic since I am nursing it should be around 13 cups a day. So the 'average' is eight and while adding 5 more cups doesn't seem like a whole lot, it sure seems like it. So if I seem to suddenly need to use the restroom more often, you'll know why.

Note that there is no standard precise amount. It depends on your body and your lifestyle. But there are definitely some guidelines to follow.

My Sound of Music Tribute

"When the dog bites.
When the bee stings,
When I'm feeling sad.
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feeeeeeeeel so bad."

Just because...

...he's funny.

Too Bad...

...that I innately have expensive taste. If you were to give me three options of say....a sofa, a shirt, or any other object WITHOUT telling me the price; chances are that I will pick the most expensive one. It's been a problem since I was young. Ask my Mom. So in my web wanderings today I found this.

(Photo from Shabby Chic)

And I love it. But don't worry if you don't like it and are worried about coming over and having to come up with some compliment that is a lie, because it is $9,000. And for some reason I don't see myself anytime soon (or at all) spending this amount on a single sofa. But I do enjoy looking at it. Hmm...maybe I will post more things like this that I like.

PS We did buy a leather sofa for my birthday/Christmas and I do love it as well. This is just a totally different kind of thing.

Close By

I know I have said it many times before, but I LOVE living close to all of our extended family. From just hanging out to going and doing things it's great to create the memories. Here are some pictures.

Daniel and his dinosaur

Now, I sadly don't have any pictures of this because WE ALL forgot our cameras...but this last weekend we went over to Soldier's Hollow to go tubing with the Thorn side of the family. It was such a blast! Really. I wish I had pictures to capture the moments. It was a beautiful day, the kids were all in good spirits, we had races, and it was just plain unspoiled FUN.

Gettin' Busy

So starting this last week I have been keeping myself extra busy. Since we have moved into our house it has been a whirlwind.

Move in, unpack in 2 1/2 weeks.
And paint the kitchen cabinets.
Company for 5 weeks.
Had baby towards the end of those 5 weeks.
ADJUST.
Halloween
ADJUST.
Thanksgiving.
ADJUST.
Christmas.
ADJUST.

Really. It's taken me 6 months with everything going on to finally get some stuff done that I have been wanting to. Like getting down to the nitty gritty of my house and CLEANING. I have been thinking about it for awhile, and it's been driving me nuts. Then finally motivated by my cousin, I made the plunge.

And let me tell you, it feels GOOD. Baseboards, walls, doors, furniture, windows, floors, ALL OF IT. Ahhhhhhh. It's a fine feeling. Following my cousins links to Simple Mom's website was a treat too. Not only did it have some great pointers on my 'Spring Cleaning', but it also has made me want to make a few tweaks to my current daily organization. So far, so good. I highly recommend checking out Simple Mom.

Also while on the cleaning subject, I would like to touch on the subject of children and chores. A friend that I have made through my s-i-l and blogging, posted pretty much my exact sentiments on the subject. Like WHY I want my kids to do chores, FOUR TRUTHS that I believe in as well, and AGE APPROPRIATE CHORES that has a pretty good list. And just to show you all that I believe in kids doing/helping with chores, look at my six month old already helping take the laundry to put away!
